The TL062 is a super low draw alternative.
If you've installed NE5532's in your pedal and it's eating batteries like Doritos, try subbing in some of the other ones. With the exception of the chip used in the Boss pedals (stock), the rest are all manufactured by Texas Instruments. But the NE5532 is a monster in comparison. You can see that the cheapo Boss stock chip is a 'hog' in comparison to the old TL072. M5218/3mA (just an example of a Boss op amp)īear in mind that the above figures are nominal ones and are for each amp. TL062/200 uA (low power version of the above) I've summarized some of the following data regarding some popular op amps.
I have noticed a trend with some folks who have pedal mods who suggest replacing op amps with the NE5532, or even stacking them. And if you use power supplies instead of batteries (like many do), this might be a moot point. Now, please take what I say with a grain of salt.
